Georgina Rosanna Murray is a soprano from Manchester currently residing in Bolton.
She was a student at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School before moving to London in 2001 (where she psent the next 12 years) and studied the Double Bass and Voice at the Royal Academy of Music. She completed a postgraduate course at Trinity College of Music in 2009, where she was awarded the Muncey Scholarship to study with Ameral Gunson and where she was a finalist in the English Song and Lieder Competitions. In 2012 she was the runner up in the Llais Llwyfan Llambed Award. She has participated in masterclasses and coachings with Robert Tear, Rosalind Plowright, Kelvin Lim, Robert Aldwinkle, Sally Burgess, Theresa Gobel and Mark Packwood. Georgina is currently a student of Jane Irwin.
She has had a varied career travelling the world singing on cruise ships and in theaters. Since settling in Bolton in 2013 Georgina has worked locally - co-founding Outreach Opera with her colleague and best friend Helen Latham. They have established a reputation for their original approach to performing opera and the audiences they attract. They have a permanent residency at Hoghton Tower in Lancashire.
Georgina has performed with many opera companies - her most favourite and inspiring were with British Youth Opera, Grange Park Opera, Preston Opera and most importantly Pavilion Opera - where she has Freddie Stockdale to thank for all the amazing opportunities he gave to her and for showing her the pure joy of sharing opera with children!
She is an experienced teacher and vocal leader. She is well known in the local community here in Bolton for her enthusiastic approach to teaching and leading. She has taught all ages, abilities and from all walks of life. Her students have taught her as much as she has taught them.
Future concerts include workshops and concerts with Outreach Opera at the Wild Voice Singing Festival at Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire. two performances with Music Magic in Manchester and Leek, and Outreach Opera's Annual Summer Opera Show at Hoghton Tower.
