Georgina Rosanna Murray is a soprano from Manchester. She was a student at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School before moving to London where she studied the Double Bass and Voice at the Royal Academy of Music. She completed a postgraduate course at Trinity College of Music in 2009, where she was awarded the Muncey Scholarship to study with Ameral Gunson and where she was a finalist in the English Song and Lieder Competitions. In 2012 she was the runner up in the Llais Llwyfan Llambed Award. She has participated in masterclasses and coachings with Robert Tear, Rosalind Plowright, Kelvin Lim, Robert Aldwinkle, Sally Burgess,Theresa Gobel and Mark Packwood. Georgina is currently a student of Jane Irwin.
Recent roles in opera scenes include Idomeneo (Idamante), Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro) and 3rd Genie (The Magic Flute). In opera, Leocasta in a production of Handel’s Giustino with TCM Opera Co, Shepherd Boy in Puccini’s Tosca with Pavilion Opera, Mother Goose (cover) in Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress with British Youth Opera, Zephrys in Mozart’s Apollo et Hyacinthus for The Rose Opera Company, Lucretia (cover) in Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia for Elemental Opera, Princess Clarissa (cover) Prokofiev’s Love for Three Oranges for Grange Park Opera, Hansel in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel for Dorset Productions, the title role in Handel’s Tamerlano for Manchester Concert Opera, Gianetta in Donezetti’s L’elisir d’amore for Pavilion Opera, Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Countess Almaviva in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro for Opera Cocktail and Norina in Donizetti's Don Pasquale. Georgina recently sang the role of Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute with Preston Opera.
Future performances include singing in a Music Magic concert and she will make an appearance at Gawsworth Hall's 'Summer Proms' in August.
